What data we collect

My Travel Maps stores your map selections (visited countries and states, wish list, city pins, road trip stops) in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device. We do not have a server-side database of your maps.

Google Sign-In

You may optionally sign in with your Google account. If you do, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. This information is stored in your browser's localStorage and is used only to display your name and avatar in the navigation bar. We do not store this information on any server, do not share it with third parties, and do not use it for any purpose other than personalization. You can sign out at any time, which removes the stored profile from your browser.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for a few purposes: essential cookies that make the site work, analytics cookies that help us understand how the site is used in aggregate (which tools are popular, general traffic volumes, and performance), and advertising cookies set by our advertising partners to serve and measure ads. Some of these cookies are set by third parties and may be used to deliver personalized advertising based on your activity on this and other sites. See the Advertising and Your privacy choices sections below for details and your options.

Our advertising partner Raptive manages advertising consent and privacy controls on our behalf:

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal information in the traditional sense; however, the interest-based advertising described in the Advertising and Your privacy choices sections may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under certain US state privacy laws, and you can opt out using the controls described above.

Your rights

You can clear your travel map data at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage or by using the “Clear all” button in any map tool. If you have signed in with Google, you can sign out at any time by clicking your avatar in the navigation bar and selecting “Sign out,” which removes your profile data from localStorage. You may also revoke the Google connection from your Google Account permissions page.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically for any changes.
